The Law of Healthcare Administration is designed to provide an overview of the American legal system and how it impacts the delivery of healthcare services. The Law of Healthcare Administration discusses the impact of legal factors affecting patient/client care and the operations and administration of healthcare facilities and systems. The course examines the principles and practices of law, legal relationships, sources of law and legal processes affecting the health service system.

Explain fundamental concepts of health care law, including distinctions between civil and criminal cases, as well as torts and tort liability.
Apply legal aspects of medical and professional malpractice.
Assist in satisfying compliance requirements for health care organizations.
Describe and apply principles related to contractual obligations, antitrust regulations, and managed care considerations.
Identify and apply issues related to informed consent, mandatory reporting, patient rights, HIPAA regulations, and guardianships.
Identify the roles of healthcare planning documents, such as Advance Directives and health care proxies.
Apply federal and state labor laws applicable to the health care sector.
