This foundational course prepares students to navigate the complex world of information with confidence, precision, and integrity. Students will develop the essential skills to ask effective research questions, locate and evaluate a wide variety of sources—including scholarly, legal, and professional materials—and integrate them into well-reasoned, ethically composed arguments. Through hands-on practice with search tools, citation styles (including Bluebook, MLA, and APA), and real-world case studies, students will learn to distinguish between credible and unreliable sources, avoid plagiarism, and communicate ideas clearly and responsibly. Designed for all majors but especially useful for students in legal studies, business, and social sciences, this course equips learners with the research and writing competencies needed for success in college and beyond.
