This course provides future speech-language pathologists with the foundational knowledge of speech science necessary for clinical practice.

Course Learning Outcomes

At the completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of fundamental concepts of speech acoustics.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of clinical and functional assessments and instruments used to measure the acoustic properties of speech.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the physiological aspects of the speech mechanism that influence the acoustic properties of voice and phonation.
